grand canyon

We made it to the grand canyon. that crack in the ground is immense!I took 165 pics today a record! mind you not all of them were at the canyon as there was some cool stuff on the way to panquitch. The time zone things were all screwy there. the bus was on pacific time the news letter said it should be on mountain time I still have NY time. but it made it hard to figure out how much we could actually do before we had to leave. We took the FREE shuttle all the way to hermits rest which took about 3 hours making kevin a bit anxious about getting to camp before dark. We stopped at a few of the places along the way. Deb la I kept thinking of you biking all the rim trail. That really would be the best way to see it all in about a day the top of the canyon is relatively flat and has good trails. It is a rather long walk but would be a great bike ride. there was a raven entertaining people at hermits rest and we saw a deer just hanging out a bus stop that was probably a 10 point buck. he seemed very unconcerned that it was hunting season. There is no way however I would want to go into the canyon on mule. that thing is steep!!!!The rafting down the colorado river still sounds like fun to me though. On our way to panquitch we went through a dust storm kinda weird. The canyon lands all around are just amazing everywhere I look there is something beautiful. I was however again saddened by the squalor of some of the people. Living in small shacks or tiny homes many in just old camping trailers. it got into the 90s again today. I'mgoing to try uploading some of the pics now
